ABOUT OUR COMPANY

MAKING PEOPLE’S LIVES BETTER

THE FORSYTHE DIFFERENCE.

INDEPENDENT. INNOVATIVE. CUSTOMER-FOCUSED.
POWERED BY PEOPLE, TRUSTED FOR GENERATIONS.

Forsythe Lubrication’s roots go back over a century, beginning in 1911 when Chester Goring founded the Ontario Lubrication Company in Hamilton, Ontario. Strategically built alongside a rail line and near the city’s growing steel mills, the business quickly earned a reputation for solving problems others couldn’t. From the start, the company’s success wasn’t just about oil—it was about relationships, trust, and personalized service.

In 1963, Chester’s grandson, Bob Forsythe, took a bold step. After parting ways with the family business, he launched Forsythe Lubrication in Dundas, backed by his mother Gladys. When the original Ontario Lubrication Company folded, Bob reclaimed the historic property at 120 Chatham Street, bringing the business full circle. That location remains the heart of Forsythe today—a reminder that our legacy has always been built on resilience, independence, and a personal commitment to our customers.

Through the 1970s, Forsythe partnered with major oil companies like Gulf, Shell, Imperial, and Pennzoil as a trusted contract blender. But while large corporations focused on volume, we focused on people—offering flexibility, custom solutions, and quick decision-making that big industry players simply couldn’t match. Our culture of teamwork and adaptability allowed us to grow without losing the close-knit, hands-on approach that defines us.

The 1980s and 1990s brought international partnerships, including our first overseas client in Thailand, along with ISO 9001 certification in 1997. Each milestone reflected our belief that quality is not just a standard—it’s a promise to every customer we serve.

In the 2000s, Forsythe expanded into automotive factory-fill contract blending, working closely with Japanese and German manufacturers to supply precision fluids across North America. Achieving IATF 16949 certification was another example of how we adapt and excel—always maintaining the family-driven service mentality that sets us apart.

Today, Forsythe Lubrication is still proudly independent, now in its fifth generation of leadership. We manufacture, blend, and test products for industries around the world—while also offering specialty blending in solvents, chemicals, and other niche products. We measure our success by the relationships we’ve built, the trust we’ve earned, and the culture we’ve cultivated over 100+ years.
